Priamo Lozada 1962-2007
Priamo Lozada the curator of the Mexican Pavilion in the Venice Biennial died today after falling from a third floor some days ago.
It is the third artist/curator I know that dies after falling from a building. The other two where Adolfo Patiño and Pedro Alvarez.

I'm very shocked to see this information. Priamo & friends stayed in one of my appartments during the ART Basel the last two years, and he was always a very nice person. So sad for his friends and relatives.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Priamo. We were very close friends when he lived in NYC in the mid-90's and remained so, albeit, at a distance. I can picture his broad smile, those big eyes and, of course, his laugh. It was a joy to have known him. My sincere thoughts are with his family and friends.
Thank you so much for mentioning my brother. We have received many prayers and wishes from his friends. He will always remain in our hearts.
Me llena de dicha y orgullo haber sido amiga de Priamo, uno de los seres más hermosos de esta tierra. Con su figura divinamente lineal, sus movimientos felinos, su melodica voz, su sonrisa. Priamo, te amo siempre. Tengo el alma desgarrada por tu ausencia.
El mundo del arte queda hueco sin su desbordada pasión, sin sus ojos que no dejaron de sorprenderse, sin su resistencia a los grupos de poder. Va, ganaron los envidiosos que tanto desearon su caida. Va, allí esta el camino libre para que en la Bienal de Venecia del 2009 sigan llenando el mundo de lo mismo. Ciegos, nunca tendran los ojos de Priamo para celebrar la vida desde el Cartoon Network hasta el Louvre.
Yo doy gracias por la visión que tuvo del arte. Estaba en un momento iluminado, en lo más alto.
Hoy todavía se pueden visitar sus últimos 2 proyectos : "Intersticio" en el Laboratorio de Arte Alameda en la Ciudad de México y "Hay cosas que pasan más veces que todo el tiempo" en la 52 Bienal de Venecia.
Yo doy gracias por haberlo tenido cerca, aunque no haya sido suficiente el tiempo para disfrutar a tan interminable ser.

Varios colegas mexicanos estuvimos en Venecia para festejar el proyecto de Priamo y Barbara, para festejar que lograron participar en la Bienal de Venecia con un Pabellón impecable abanderado por Rafael Lozano-Hemmer... A cada signo de mejoría el frenesí se manifestaba en la cara de todos, principalmente en la cara de Gerardo, Barbara y la mamá de Priamo. Nunca pensamos que las esperanzas de todos se disiparan de una fuerte palmada, nunca quisimos sospechar que Priamo podría no recuperarse. Yo no tuve nunca una estrecha amistad con Priamo pero siempre respeté y admiré su trabajo, su manera tan cordial de dirigirse al otro y su asimilada vocación en el medio. Cuántos proyectos llevó a cabo? cuántas colaboraciones y a cuántos artistas apoyó de tantas maneras? Qué hubiera sido del Laboratorio sin Priamo desde el inicio? Lo recordaré siempre como un tipazo del que todos, todos, hablan siempre bien y lo recordaré también con esa sonrisa larga que normalmente tenía dibujada en su cara.
How dreadfully sad. I didn't know him, but attended the party at the Mexican pavillion and saw the show. Both were amazing, full of warmth and vitality. It was the highlight of the weekend. I'm so sorry to the people that knew him for your loss.

Dear Anonymous and others,
I am honored and deeply touched by the beautiful way in which you all describe my brother.
I'm grateful that he had so many wonderful people in his life. I have no doubt that you all touched his life immensely; as it appears he has touched yours.
He will be missed by friends, family and colleagues, and all those that knew him. There are just no words....
